Cheltenham Remembrance Day 2008

9 November 2008, Long Garden

Cheltenham’s remembrance service and parade to honour sacrifice of armed services in war will take place at 11am on Sunday, 9 November at the war memorial in Cheltenham’s Long Garden. The service will begin at 10.55am, and will be opened by the Reverend Paul Wilkinson, chaplain to the Mayor. A lone trumpeter will play The Last Post before two minutes silence at 11am. After the Reveille, the service will continue with prayers, hymns and the national anthem, played by Gloucestershire Police Band. Cheltenham Silver Band will also perform.
Taking part will be the Cheltenham Branch of the Royal British Legion, Cheltenham Royal Naval Association, Cheltenham old Comrades Association, Joint Services Support Unit, British Red Cross Society, Gloucestershire College Army Cadet Force and St. John Ambulance Brigade. Also attending will be detachments from the naval, army and RAF cadets, and patrols from local scouts and guides groups.
