Cheltenham Indoor Cricket Centre Set for Full Refurbishment

Cheltenham indoor cricket centre which was situated on the land adjacent to Cheltenham Leisure Centre is going to be fully refurbished, the council announced. Built in 1984 the indoor cricket hall is the County’s only purpose built indoor cricket facility.

The centre was severely damaged in the floods of 2007 and remained closed since. Before it closed, the centre was used extensively by the Gloucestershire County Cricket Club, as well as by 8 -10 local cricket clubs for indoor pre-season training.

The centre will be refurbished using money from the insurance settlement as well as additional £35,000 allocated by the council. This good news hopefully also means that the popular Indoor 6-a-side cricket completions will recommence next October following the two year enforced break.

Unfortunately, the option to include a gymnastics facility was dismissed for financial reasons.
