27 & 28 November 2009, The Front Rooms
Fancy a bitter music this weekend? The Red Lemons, a celebrated British soul band, are performing at The Front Rooms on Friday and Saturday night. Famed for their ''funky'' and lively style, the seven-piece group has played for a host of celebrities including Princess Anne, Billy Connolly, David Frost and Jeremy Irons. The band - which includes a rhythm, brass and vocal section - has also performed alongside Chaka Khan, Robert Plant, Blow Monkeys, Edwin Starr and Jools Holland. It even supported the legendary Chuck Berry on a 15-date UK sell-out tour. But The Red Lemons' biggest acclaim is being likened to the Godfather of soul himself, James Brown.
Now the band are coming to Cheltenham to perform at the exclusive music venue The Front Rooms. According to the band's Gloucestershire-based agent, Quality Entertainment, the show will be a memorable one. A statement on the firm's site says: ''This band will have you standing on your seat, dancing in the aisles and finally stamping your feet for more!'' The Front Rooms, dubbed the South West's answer to 'Ronnie Scott's', the legendary jazz club in London's Soho, opened for business last month. Since then, the exclusive 20,000sq ft venue - which boasts two stages, three bars, a VIP area and even a red carpet onto the High Street for customers - has carved a reputation for showcasing the best British talent.
The Red Lemons will perform live sets on both Friday and Saturday nights from 9pm. Tickets cost just £5 and are available from http://www.thefrontrooms.com/, or by calling 01242 571789.
